I know a few readers who don't like Willa Cather. To these people I say, You are wrong. The writing is absolutely beautiful. There were so many passages I underlined and highlighted. Cather writes about prairie life so vividly, and talks about the land as if it were another one of the characters. This is a great classic. O Pioneers is very readable. I love Alexandra as a character. She is so naturally strong, and the way she looks at the world around her is so positive. It's nice to read a book with a positive POV; a lot of tough women are portrayed as bitter. This is a nice change. The plot moves very quickly, and there isn't a ton of time spent showing Alexandra's growth. The pace might be a little too fast for me, but I still found it very enjoyable.
